Engine

•        Zinc in Heat Exchanger 9/16” nut
•        New hose engine seacock to strainer
•        New hose strainer to raw water pump
•        Reinstall impeller
•        Tighten alternator belt
•        Check oil level
•        Replace hose clamps on intake side
•        Clean engine compartment and paint
•        Replace heat exchanger brackets
•        Investigate leak under engine
•        Hot water heat exchanger valves

Electrical

•        Check battery level – house last checked 9/28 -0.1 at 3pm
•        Check batteries for service life
•        Hire marine electrician inspection of boat electronics to analyze and explain electrical system
•        MMSI number registration update
•        Install solar*
•        Install AIS*

Deck

•        Re-bed deck fittings identified in survey
•        Measure and paint anchor chain
•        Measure and mark anchor rode
•        Service winches
•        Retrieve spinnaker halyard
•        Check staysail stay
•        Clean and refresh teak deck
•        Clean cockpit lockers and rearrange gear
•        Repair tv antenna connection
•        Reinstall Monitor windvane
•     Check/Clean all running rigging 
•     Inspect standing rigging
•     Remove old name and hailing port 
•     Affix new name and hailing port

Below Decks/Interior

•        Do inventory / locker diagram
•        Investigate and Identify head hoses

August Trip Planning

We're starting to plan a summer trip to Nova Scotia.  This is the plan for the first of the four week trip. Overnight to Shelburne or 3 days direct to Halifax depending on weather.

February Visit to Oriane

We made a visit to inspect Oriane on a midwinter day to make sure everything was still in order.....it was. We've been planning our summer and the possibilities are endless at the moment. 

Our liferaft is being serviced at Chase Leavitt in Portland. Considering a hard case mounted on deck to save space below decks.

It's was a summer of shake downs getting ready for longer adventures,

This summer Oriane visited Perry Creek, Northeast Harbor, Blue Hill, Bucks Harbor, Castine, Holbrook Island, Camden, Rockport, Criehaven, Long Cove, Pulpit Harbor and more.  The log showed 550 nm over the several weekends and a 9 day trip.

The custom winter cover fits great.

Sometimes it's a good idea to just hunker down in a secure anchorage.  This storm front came through after we were secure in Holbrook Island on August 9.

Last week on Oriane

We're looking forward to a beautiful weekend on the water.  Oriane is really fun to sail.  Perhaps we'll head to Blue Hill Bay Friday.  Galley Cove needs revisiting. Over 300 miles on the log in two weeks and a weekend.

Introducing Oriane

Naming a boat is a momentous task, second only to naming a child. We think our friend, designer David Deal, did an amazing job with the lettering we will be adding to our boat eventually.
